Luton Town confirmed two signings on transfer deadline day to sign Shayden Morris and Ethon Archer.

Morris has joined from Aberdeen, with the 23-year-old moving from Scotland for an undisclosed fee and signing a deal of undisclosed length at Kenilworth Road.

Meanwhile, Archer arrives at Luton for an undisclosed fee from Cheltenham Town, with the Hatters confirming the 23-year-old will stay with the Robins until January before moving to Kenilworth Road for good.

The double deal sees Luton confirm their 11th and 12th new signings of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Morris arrives back in England after 3 years with Aberdeen, who he joined from Fleetwood Town in 2022.

The winger had an acclaimed final season at Pittodrie, where he made nearly 50 appearances in all competitions as Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup – their first major honours since 2014.

Morris also earned individual acclaim, with the winger named as the Scottish side’s Player of the Year.

In an arrival interview with the official Luton Town website, Morris voiced his excitement to make the move to Bedfordshire.

He said, “I want to excite the fans and get them off their seats, score goals and get assists and I feel, after speaking with the manager, that this is the place I can do that.

“This is an ambitious club, a massive club, with really passionate fans, and as soon as I knew this could be happening, I looked closely at the club and the squad, and it’s really strong.

“I’m also an ambitious person who wants to be playing and winning football matches – and play at the highest level. That’s why I chose Luton.”

Meanwhile, Archer will join Luton for an undisclosed fee but will stay with the Robins until January.

The attacker, who predominantly plays as a left-winger, had joined Cheltenham from Torquay in 2024, and has scored 7 in 52 appearances for the Robins.

He said, “I’m delighted to be here and so happy this deal got over the line. As soon as I heard about it I thought it was a no-brainer, something I definitely had to go for.

“This is a very big club. It’s been in the Premier League not too long ago, in the Championship last season, and I know they have aspirations of getting back to that level, so this is something I definitely want to be a part of.

“The facilities are unreal. I can’t wait to get going here in January and I just know it’s going to aid my development, 100 per cent.”

Sam Sherring has left MK Dons after joining Cheltenham Town on a season-long loan deal.

The 25-year-old joins a Cheltenham side who have picked up just one point from their opening 5 games, with the Robins confirming his deal on the final day of the transfer window.

The move was the only major move involving the Dons on the final day of the window, with the Dons having made the last of their 10 signings yesterday (31/08).

Sherring leaves after just over a year in Milton Keynes, having joined the Dons from Northampton Town last summer.

Although Sherring arrived on the back of two impressive seasons with the Cobblers, he endured a difficult season at MK Dons. The defender scored an own goal on his debut, struggled with illness and injury problems and made just 13 appearances for the club, with his last coming in January.

In a brief statement, MK Dons said, “Featuring under both Mike Williamson and Scott Lindsey, ‘Shez’ is a popular member of the squad at Stadium MK, and goes on loan with everyone’s best wishes.

“Everyone at MK Dons wishes Sam all the best for the rest of the season.”

Sherring told the official Cheltenham Town website that he was delighted to make the move to Gloucestershire.

He said, “I’m really happy, I’ve come in today, met the lads and trained. It was a really good vibe and I’m looking forward now to the game tomorrow and cracking on.

“For me it’s a chance to play some consistent minutes. I’m looking to really make an impact on the team and play as much as I can whilst I’m here.

“It’s still early in the season, there’s a lot games left to play and hopefully I can help the team climb up the league.”

Former MK Dons star Dele Alli has been released by Italian side Como after 9 months at the club.

The move to release Dele from his deal sees him cut short a stay with the side from northern Italy, who he had joined in January on a free transfer.

Dele made just one appearance for Como, coming on as a late substitute in a match against AC Milan in March, only to be sent off after 10 minutes on the pitch.

His exit was confirmed on transfer deadline day, with Dele free to pursue another opportunity as a free agent.

The decision comes in acknowledgment of limited opportunities for Dele at a Como team managed by former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Como signed 11 players in the summer window, as well as loaning in an extra 5 for 16 deals overall.

In a club statement, Como said, “Como 1907 and Dele Alli have agreed to a mutual termination of his contract.

“Dele is keen to secure regular playing opportunities and, as he was not part of the club’s immediate plans, both parties felt it was the right decision to part ways ahead of the transfer window closing.

“The club thanks Dele for his time at Como and wishes him the very best for the future.”

Dele had joined Como after being released by Everton at the end of the 2023/24 season, although he had not made a full appearance in his final campaign with the Toffees.

The midfielder had begun his career with MK Dons, having broke through from academy to first team as a teenager and scored 24 goals in 88 appearances with the club before leaving to join Spurs in 2015.

The Milton Keynes-born footballer Ben Chilwell has left Chelsea to join French side Strasbourg.

Chilwell, 28, leaves West London to join the side from eastern France, who he has joined for a two-year deal. It has not been revealed by either club if a transfer fee changed hands.

The move is one of several to take place between Chelsea and Strasbourg, who are both owned by the same multi-club ownership group.

Strasbourg have also signed Chelsea duo Mathis Amougou and Ishe Samuels-Smith. They have also loaned in Kendry Páez and Mike Penders from the Blues, while defender Mamadou Sarr has moved from Strasbourg to Chelsea but has been loaned back to the French side for this season.

In a statement, Chelsea said, “We thank Chilly for his efforts throughout his time at the club and wish him well as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.”

Born in Milton Keynes, Chilwell began his career in the academy of Leicester City, where he became a first-team regular before joining Chelsea for an undisclosed fee of around £45million in 2020.

The defender helped Chelsea win the Champions League in his first season at Stamford Bridge but struggled with injuries for a lot of his time with the club, making 70 Premier League appearances in 5 seasons at the club.

Chilwell had spent the second half of last season out on loan with Crystal Palace, and had been strongly linked with an exit for much of the summer after not being in manager Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Luton Town have confirmed the deadline day departures of Mark McGuiness, Cauley Woodrow and Tom Holmes.

Defender McGuiness has made a full exit to join Championship side Sheffield United, with the 24-year-old joining the Blades for an undisclosed fee.

The move makes him the second to move from Kenilworth Road to Bramall Lane in the late stages of the transfer window, with Tahith Chong having joined the Blades last week.

Meanwhile, Woodrow and Holmes both make loan moves to League One clubs. Woodrow has signed for early strugglers Wycombe Wanderers, while Holmes has agreed a deal to join Rotherham United.

The moves came on a busy transfer deadline day at Luton, who also announced the quadruple signing of Shayden Morris, Ethon Archer, Joe Gbodé and Ali Al-Hamadi.

McGuiness was the highest profile exit, with the 24-year-old leaving a year after joining the Hatters from Cardiff City.

Sheffield United have confirmed McGuinness has signed a four year contract at Bramall Lane after moving for an undisclosed fee.

The deal came on a very busy day for the Blades, who have signed four players, including former Hatter Chiedozie Ogbene, who joined the South Yorkshiremen on loan from Ipswich Town.

In his time at Kenilworth Road, McGuinness had scored 3 times in 44 appearances for the club, seven of which had come this season before his deadline day exit.

Luton manager Matt Bloomfield told the club’s website that he was happy to work with McGuinness and wished him well.

He said, “Mark is an incredible man who I wish nothing but success. The integrity he has shown, and the way he has conducted himself this summer with some interest, is a mark of who he is and what he stands for.

“We’re disappointed to lose him but it’s a great move for him and wish him nothing but the best.”

Striker Woodrow makes a second loan move away from Luton in 2025, having spent the second half of last season with Blackburn Rovers.

The deal to send the 30-year-old to Wycombe is a season-long loan arrangement, with the deal seeing him join a Chairboys side yet to win a match so far in League One this season.

Woodrow was one of four deadline day loan signings to arrive at Adams Park, alongside the signings of Bristol City’s Sam Bell, Donnell McNeilly from Chelsea and Niall Huggins of Sunderland.

The striker had joined Luton in 2022, returning to a club where he had played at academy level. He scored 6 goals in 77 appearances.

Luton Town said, “He heads to Adams Park with the best wishes of all at Kenilworth Road.”

Meanwhile, 25-year-old defender Holmes has signed for Rotherham in what was the Millers’ only deadline day arrival.

The defender joined Luton in January 2024 from Reading, spending the remainder of that campaign with the Berkshire club.

Holmes made 20 appearances after making his full move, but struggled for game time after the departure of Rob Edwards, with the defender spending the second half of last season on loan with Belgian side Dender.
